Handyman services in Altamonte Springs, Florida
Eight job types, all within Florida’s general handyman scope. We do not perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC/AC or roofing work at any price -- those stay with their own licensed trade under Florida law, and we say so before quoting rather than after starting.
Drywall repair
Nail pops, cracked corners at door and window openings, hole patching from wall-mounted furniture or a doorknob strike, and water-stained ceiling patches once the moisture source is fixed. We match the existing texture (orange peel, knockdown or smooth) rather than leaving a visible patch. Bulging or discolored drywall gets checked for an active leak before we patch over it -- patching a symptom without finding the source just hides the next failure.
Door & window repair
Sticking doors, worn or squeaking hinges, misaligned strike plates, doors that won’t latch, and window sashes that stick, won’t stay up or won’t seal. Most of Altamonte Springs’s housing dates to the 1970s-80s building boom, so original doors and window hardware in unrenovated units are now 35-55 years old -- this is one of the most requested job types in the city’s housing stock.
Deck & fence repair
Board and slat replacement, panel repair, and post repair within the City of Altamonte Springs’ permit-exempt scope: the city’s own FAQ says replacing slats, panels, chain link, or up to two sections including posts of an existing fence does not require a permit. Replacing three or more sections including posts, or the support poles themselves, crosses into permitted work, and jobs that size go through the city or county building division rather than handyman scope. TV mounting
Studs located, mount leveled and secured, TV hung, and cables run or concealed along the wall -- onto an existing outlet. We don’t run new electrical circuits or outlets; if a mount location needs new power, that’s an electrician’s job, and we’ll say so before starting.
Gutter cleaning
Leaves and debris cleared from gutters and downspouts, and downspout flow checked, ahead of Central Florida’s rainy season. Several Altamonte Springs subdivisions, Spring Oaks among them, sit under mature oak canopy with a heavy leaf-drop load that clogs gutters faster than a newer, more open subdivision.
Caulking & weatherproofing
Re-sealing around door frames, window frames and exterior trim where sun and humidity have broken down the old bead. Florida’s year-round humidity and rain make failed caulking a direct path for moisture to reach drywall and framing behind it, so this is maintenance work, not cosmetic work.
Punch-list & honey-do work
One visit covering the list of small jobs that have each been too small to justify a separate service call: a loose railing, a cabinet door that won’t close, a squeaky floorboard, weatherstrip replacement, and anything else on the list. In Altamonte Springs’s smaller condo and townhome units this is often the most efficient way to get several minor repairs done in a single scheduled visit.
Fixture & hardware installs
Shelving, closet systems, curtain rods, blinds, towel bars, cabinet and drawer hardware, and mirrors -- fixtures that mount to an existing wall or outlet and don’t require new wiring or plumbing. We do not install light fixtures, ceiling fans, faucets or anything that requires connecting to electrical or plumbing lines; those need a licensed electrician or plumber.
Electrical, plumbing, HVAC and roofing stay separately licensed
Florida doesn’t require a state contractor license for general handyman work like ours -- but electrical, plumbing, HVAC/mechanical and roofing work has never been included in that, at any price. Those trades always require their own Florida license, no matter how small or cheap the job is, and any job that requires a building permit also needs a licensed contractor to pull it. We work inside the handyman scope and tell you directly when a job needs a different trade, rather than stretching the definition.
